What
the...?
Again, the new Spider-Man
turns out to be an incredibly well made fx spectacle with lots and lots
of entertainment value. If you loved the other ones, welcome another
sibling. It looks and feels mostly exactly the same and there is
everything you liked about the first ones. Scenes like Peter as a nerd,
the subtle romance, exposition Rosemary Harris, side gag JK Simmons,
major action pieces featuring ridiculously expensive CGI work and more.
Eventually, Spider-Man 2 was
an improvement to the original - Spider-Man 3 lowers the bar a bit, as
there are some minor (major) mistakes in the way. First, it's just too
long. And even with the additional runtime there is still too much going
on. Three major enemies take away their own time to be fully fleshed out
and it's at times kinda difficult to follow all the storylines. Peter's
transition from nerd to pimp is too quick and overall Peter and Kirsten
actually give their weakest performances of the series. The showdown is
a complete mess and a similar letdown like the Matrix Revolutions one.

Sam Raimi
is... Harry Potter?

how about violence
& nudity? |
There is more nudity in
apple commercials.
Some beatings, but nothing bloody.
|
you'll probably
like it if you liked those: |
- Spider-Man
- Spider-Man 2
- Fantastic Four
Spider-Man 3 is just too
much in many regards. Too many foes, too many storylines, not enough of
the simple fun they had in the superior predecessors. Still, very
entertaining.
Sequel
idea:
Bring on the Lizard.
